LWML
The mission of the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League (LWML) is to assist each woman of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod in affirming her relationship with the Triune God so that she is enabled to use her gifts in ministry to the people of the world.
LWML Vision Statement
The LWML is the leading group for LCMS women where each woman is welcomed and encouraged to use her unique God-given gifts as she supports global missions and serves the Lord with gladness.
Bethany Women’s Guild has approximately 30 active members (who commit to monthly meetings when possible) and also about 30 associate members who are willing to support the Guild with their prayers and by helping with some duties when asked.
The active members are divided into three circles that meet once a month during September, November, January, February, April, and May. The meetings are on the second Thursday of the month . . . one circle meets at 1:30 p.m. and two circles meet at 6:30 p.m. We have a Bible study, discuss upcoming meetings and duties, and enjoy fellowship and dessert.
The three circles come together for a general meeting in the months of October, December, March and June and enjoy lunch together followed by a program or Bible study and a short business meeting.
Missions
LWML members participate in various outreach and service projects. They meet regularly to assemble quilts, which are donated to Lutheran World Relief and distributed to people in third world countries. Others play bingo with residents at a nursing home in town once per month. In addition, the women's guild raises funds to support local charities and seminary students and collect mites for local and international mission projects.
Communion
Members of the LWML prepare and clean up communion ware on the first and third Sundays of the month.
